INVENTIONS AND DISCOBERIES VOCABULARY

Here you will find some activities related to the vocabulary that you will work in this unit.

GRAMMAR

This section contains all the theory related to inventions.

There are three main concepts that we will have to learn here:

Past Simple
We use the Simple Past to to talk about actions done in the past. With the past Simple, we express that an action started and finished at a specific time in the past. Sometimes the time of the action is not specified.

* There are two ways to change the Past Simple verbs:

Regular verbs
The verbs are ended in -ed.
Examples
play-played
stay-stayed
invent-invented

Irregular verbs:
The form in the past of these verbs is a bit different than the form in the present.
Examples
see-saw
have-had
be-was/were

Here's a list of irregular verbs that you should learn by heart.

Use of a/an
We use a/an with singular contable nouns.

- a is used before a noun that starts with a consonant
Example
I bought a car

- an is used before a noun that starts with a vowel
Example
I ate an apple
